About the project
Emigrating to America is a Research and development project exploring new ways of disseminating the history of Norwegian emigratin to America in the 19th and 20th century. To do so the project explores using digital and physical interactive games, as well as primary sources, exhibitions and educational packages.
Vestland fylkeskommune, is the project owner, and provides financial support and primary source material. Vestnorsk utvandringssenter (MUHO) in Norway contributes knowledge and collections, and provides assistance in developing, evaluating, and disseminating projects results. Vesterheim Museum in the USA contributes knowledge and collections, and provides assistance in developing, evaluating, and disseminating projects results. Tidvis Utvikling AS, is the producer and designer of the visual novel, exhibition, physical game, and education package.
The project has also received financial support from Bergesenstiftelsen, Arkivutviklingsmidlene And Oslo Havn.
The teaching materials have been developed with support from Memoar. The script for the digital game has been developed together with Torgrim Mellum Steene.
